I am Awake, but What is Awakening?

Awakening, in its truest essence, is the profound realization of one’s interconnectedness with all that is. It is not merely an intellectual understanding but a deep, experiential knowing that permeates every fiber of one’s being.

In this state, the illusion of separateness dissolves. The ‘I’, which once felt distinct and separate from the universe, recognizes its innate unity with the cosmos. It’s like a drop of water realizing it is, and has always been, a part of the vast ocean.

As this realization deepens, the burdens of the past and anxieties of the future lose their grip. One finds oneself rooted firmly in the present moment, experiencing life in its purest form, untainted by the mind’s interpretations.

Awakening also brings about a profound transformation in one’s relationship with oneself and with others. The barriers that once existed due to judgments, fears, and prejudices melt away, giving rise to unconditional love and compassion.

However, it’s essential to understand that awakening is not an end in itself. It’s the beginning of a beautiful journey, a continuous unfolding. As one deepens in this state, the mysteries of existence reveal themselves, leading to ever-increasing states of joy, peace, and fulfillment.

In essence, awakening is the homecoming of the soul, a return to its original state of boundless love, infinite wisdom, and eternal bliss.

Sri AmmaBhagavan’s Ten Teachings for Awakening

Sri AmmaBhagavan, the revered spiritual leader and co-founder of Oneness University, has imparted a wealth of teachings to guide seekers on their paths to awakening. Here, we delve into ten of his profound teachings that serve as pillars for spiritual growth and self-realization:

  1. The Power of Deeksha: One of the most vital teachings revolves around Deeksha, also known as the Oneness Blessing. It’s a transfer of divine energy that can catalyze spiritual awakening, leading to an expanded state of consciousness.
  2. Embrace the Present: Being rooted in the present moment is the key to experiencing life’s richness. By immersing oneself in the ‘now,’ one can transcend past regrets and future anxieties.
  3. Interconnectedness of All: Recognizing that all beings are intrinsically linked paves the way for global harmony. This unity transcends borders, religions, and cultures, fostering universal brotherhood.
  4. Inner Transformation Leads to Outer Change: Personal growth and transformation aren’t merely inward-focused. As individuals evolve, their changed perspectives influence their surroundings, promoting societal harmony.
  5. Sacredness of Relationships: Relationships act as mirrors, reflecting our deepest selves. Nurturing and valuing these connections can lead to profound internal growth.
  6. Surrender to the Divine: Submitting to a higher power or the universe can unburden the soul. This surrender isn’t about defeat but about embracing the vastness and wisdom of the divine.
  7. Seeking is the Journey: The pursuit of enlightenment isn’t just about the destination but also the journey. Every step, with its challenges and revelations, holds immense value.
  8. Acceptance of Reality: Resisting reality can lead to suffering. Accepting life’s events, both favorable and unfavorable, can instill a sense of peace and reduce internal turmoil.
  9. Gratitude as a Way of Life: Embracing gratitude can transform one’s outlook on life. Being thankful for both significant and small blessings cultivates positivity and abundance.
  10. Silence is Golden: Periods of silence and introspection can lead to profound insights. In the cacophony of modern life, seeking moments of quietude can be deeply rejuvenating.

In conclusion, Sri AmmaBhagavan’s teachings offer a roadmap to awakening and enlightenment. By internalizing and practicing these principles, seekers can embark on a fulfilling journey toward self-discovery and universal oneness.

Kalki Bhagavan

The Legend of Kalki

Context in the Yugas: Hinduism divides cosmic time into four epochs or Yugas: Satya, Treta, Dvapara, and Kali. As the cycle progresses, there’s a gradual decline in righteousness (Dharma). Kalki, the tenth avatar, is prophesied to appear at the end of the current age, the Kali Yuga, to vanquish malevolence and reinstate dharma.

The Prophesied Arrival: Scriptures like the Puranas describe Kalki’s arrival as a mounted warrior on a white horse, wielding a sword that blazes like a comet. He is envisioned to wage a conclusive battle against the forces of darkness, eradicating evil and paving the way for the Satya Yuga, the age of truth.

Birth and Abode: Kalki is predicted to be born to a Brahmin family in the village of Shambhala. Though there are varied interpretations regarding its location, Shambhala is often seen as a place of spiritual significance.

Symbolism and Significance

Restoration of Balance: Just as every preceding avatar of Vishnu arose in response to a cosmic imbalance, Kalki embodies the promise of divine intervention during humanity’s darkest hour.

  • Transition Between Cycles: Kalki’s advent marks the cyclical nature of time in Hindu philosophy. His emergence and subsequent actions signify the end of one cycle and the beginning of another, reinforcing the eternal cosmic dance of creation, preservation, and dissolution.
  • Hope and Renewal: In an era characterized by strife, moral decay, and spiritual bankruptcy, the prophecy of Kalki serves as a beacon of hope. It underscores the belief that no matter how overwhelming the forces of darkness become, light will eventually prevail.

In Popular Culture

Kalki, though yet to appear, has deeply influenced Indian spirituality and culture. This avatar has been referenced in various art forms, literature, and even contemporary discussions, symbolizing the perpetual struggle between good and evil and the eventual triumph of righteousness.
