Napoleon Hill’s Story

Napoleon Hill was born on October 26, 1883, in a one-room cabin in Pound, Virginia. He was the oldest sibling in his family and his mother passed away when he was just nine years old. After his mother’s death, his father remarried and his stepmother, who was a school teacher, taught him the value of education.

In 1908, Hill got his first big break when he was assigned to interview industrialist Andrew Carnegie for a magazine. Carnegie was one of the most powerful men in the world at the time and Hill was able to spend three days interviewing him. During these discussions, Carnegie suggested the idea that the path to success could be detailed in a simple formula that anyone would be able to understand and achieve.

Intrigued by this, Hill spent the next 20 years of his life studying successful people and working to develop a formula for success. He interviewed over 500 successful individuals, including Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Henry Ford, Elmer Gates, Charles M. Schwab, Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, John D. Rockefeller, and F. W. Woolworth.

In 1928, he published his findings in a book called “The Law of Success.” The book was an instant success and is still widely regarded as a classic in the field of personal development. In it, Hill outlined 16 “laws” to be followed in order to achieve success, including the law of habit, the master mind principle, and the law of increasing returns.

Following the success of this book, Hill continued to write and lecture on his principles of success. His most famous work, “Think and Grow Rich,” was published in 1937. This book distilled the findings of his previous work into 13 principles and has sold millions of copies worldwide.

Despite his success, Hill’s life was not without its challenges. He faced many personal and financial setbacks, including the failure of several businesses and the death of his wife. Despite these adversities, Hill remained committed to his belief in the power of positive thinking and the potential for anyone to achieve success.

Napoleon Hill passed away on November 8, 1970. His work continues to be widely read and his principles of success are still taught today. His legacy lives on through the Napoleon Hill Foundation, a non-profit organization that continues to promote his ideas and teachings.
