Lao-Tzu
Lao-Tzu, also known as Laozi, is a legendary figure in Chinese culture, revered as a philosopher and the founder of Taoism, a philosophical and religious tradition that emphasizes living in harmony with the Tao, or the natural order of the universe. Lao-Tzu is most renowned for his seminal work, the “Tao Te Ching,” a text that has greatly influenced Chinese thought and culture. While details about his life are shrouded in mystery and are the subject of much debate, Lao-Tzu is traditionally believed to have been a contemporary of Confucius, another iconic figure in Chinese philosophy.
